Gesher Health Clinic - An accessible clinic for girls

Hila Weinberger | Hillel Yaffe Medical Center

Project goal:

Establishing an accessible and tailored women's clinic for at-risk girls, combining in-person and digital medicine, while promoting sexual education and removing barriers to access to medical services.

Project description:

Many teens, especially teen at-risk, face unique challenges when it comes to sexual and gynecological health. Sometimes it is a lack of knowledge or awareness, and sometimes it is a real difficulty in scheduling appointments, getting to the clinic, or overcoming psychological and bureaucratic barriers.

The project seeks to establish a hybrid clinic specifically for teen girls, which will combine an initial face-to-face meeting in educational or therapeutic settings with an ongoing digital support system. The service will be provided by gynecologists who have undergone training tailored to work with this population, while maintaining discretion, cultural sensitivity, and maximum accessibility.

The clinic will offer teen girls reliable information on contraceptives, the HPV vaccine, advice regarding sexual and reproductive health and more. Following an intake meeting in person, patients will be able to continue follow-up and future appointments remotely.

This initiative aims to reduce the gap between girls' health needs and their ability to exercise their medical rights. The recent war exacerbated the need for a tailored and accessible digital healthcare service.

Our vision is to operate a regular weekly clinic at the hospital, run by a dedicated physician who will care for the patients over time. The service will stand at the intersection of personalized medicine and technological accessibility, and will become a milestone in promoting the health of girls and teens whose voices are often unheard.
